Jorge Lépez Vela, a native of Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico, 1963, a Graphic Designer and Photographer. His work has been exhibited in museums in Mexico and abroad. FONCA (National Fund for Culture and the Arts) has been a fellow with Sierra Zapotec in 1990-1991 and in 1995-1996 with Pascual routes.
Among his solo exhibitions include The Portrait of the body, where none, Marurbe, Sierra Zapotec and Pascual routes. He has participated in international group exhibitions in the United States, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Germany, Norway, France, Switzerland, Russia, Greece, Czech Republic and Holland, among other venues.
His work is part of the collections of the Centro de la Imagen, Manuel Alvarez Bravo Photographic Center in Oaxaca, Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, Mexican Council of Photography, Photographic Library of Cuba, fonca ifal, enah, Institute of Culture of the City Mexico and the National Indigenous Institute, among others.
He has published three printed books: Jorge Lépez Vela, Sierra Zapoteca, National Council fon Culture and the Arts/Secretariat of Culture of Oaxaca; Jorge Lépez Vela, Oscar de la Borbolla, Marurbe, Arts of Mexico-Secretariat of Culture of the Federal District Government, 2005 and Vela Lépez Jorge, Gabriel Wolfson, Pascual routes, fonca Pascual Workers Cooperative Society , ICSyH-BUAP, Printer Group Mexico, Juan Pablos and UCM, 2003 and one Digital as an App Sierra Zapoteca, 2012, available now at the Apple Store
He has received the following awards: Honorable Mention X-rays from the radio, IMER. Selected in the Sixth Biennial Puebla de los Angeles 2007. Honorable mention Anthropological Photography Contest IX. Second National Meeting V creates.
